Embryo transfer and endometrial preparation.

The Most Expected Moment in a Fertility Treatment.

Embryo transfer is the final stage of the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process, during which one or more embryos previously cultured in the laboratory are carefully placed into the woman’s uterus. To increase the chances of implantation and pregnancy, it is essential to properly prepare the endometrium — the inner lining of the uterus where the embryo will implant.

At Advanced Fertility Center Cancún, we provide a comprehensive approach that combines technology, medical expertise, and personalized follow-up to ensure the uterus is in the best possible condition to receive the embryo.

After 5 days of development in an incubator, the embryo reaches a stage called blastocyst, at which point the embryo is ready to be placed inside the uterus. This procedure is known as embryo transfer.

The transfer can be fresh—at the end of a stimulation cycle—or deferred, when the embryos have been vitrified (frozen) and are stored in our center.

The woman’s body must prepare for a transfer; this is called endometrial preparation.

There are two types of endometrial preparation:

  1. Natural Cycle: This method takes advantage of the patient’s spontaneous ovulatory cycle. It is ideal for women with regular cycles and adequate ovarian function.
  2. Hormone Replacement Cycle (Substituted Cycle): Estrogen and progesterone are administered to precisely control the uterine environment. This approach is useful for women with irregular cycles or in procedures involving frozen embryo transfers (FET).
