Double Accumulation - BACK TO BACK OR DUO STIM

A powerful protocol for maximizing egg retrieval in low-responder patients.

Double accumulation, back to back or Duo Stim is an advanced assisted reproduction technique designed especially for patients with low ovarian reserve or who retrieve a limited number of eggs in a single stimulation cycle. Its goal is to accumulate oocytes or embryos over two (or more) consecutive cycles. This innovative approach is particularly beneficial for patients with diminished ovarian reserve, women of advanced maternal age, or those with time-sensitive fertility plans (e.g., prior to cancer treatment or before undergoing Preimplantation Genetic Testing).

What does double accumulation involve?

Instead of performing one stimulation cycle followed by fertilization and embryo transfer, this protocol allows for two back-to-back ovarian stimulations—without waiting for a full menstrual cycle between them. Eggs retrieved from both cycles are then either vitrified or fertilized, and embryos are transferred together in a single attempt.

Who is it for?

  • Women with low ovarian response.
  • Patients over the age of 37 with few eggs retrieved in previous IVF cycles.
  • Individuals who want to improve their chances of success by accumulating more embryos before transfer.
  • Patients planning a Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT-A) and need a sufficient number of embryos for analysis.

Benefits of double accumulation:

  • Increases the number of embryos available for transfer.
  • Improves the chances of finding euploid embryos (with a normal chromosome count) in PGT-A cycles.
  • Reduces the risk of failed embryo transfers.
  • Offers a more strategic and personalized approach for low-responder patients.
  • May help reduce emotional and financial stress by optimizing the process for a single transfer.
